Get Out the Vote

About Get Out the Vote

A determined group of over 300 Temple Sinai members banded together in 2020 to ensure that eligible voters around the country were registered to vote and had the ability to have their voices heard. Temple Sinai joined with the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism and Reclaim Our Vote in this effort. Congregants wrote postcards, called and texted to ensure that people knew where and how to register to vote.

Temple Sinai’s Team GOTV 2022 continued to write post cards and to make calls and texts to voters.  In conjunction with the RAC’s Every Voice Every Vote Campaign, we worked with Reclaim Our Vote (ROV), a volunteer-driven, nonpartisan voter outreach campaign to empower voters of color and fight voter suppression, especially in the South.

In this ongoing work, ROV supplies us with the names and addresses of voters to contact. We create packets with preprinted labels, postcards, stamps, instructions, and specific text to write on each postcard.

Current Efforts:

Working with the Religious Action Center (RAC), we will contact Florida voters in May. Sign up here.

Working with the RAC and Reclaim Our Vote during this election season, we plan to send cards to New York, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia, Texas, and Virginia voters. Watch for instructions to sign up for each campaign.

If you‘d like to help make phone calls to voters, contact Debby Litt.

We are also hoping to do more local GOTV work, such as working with residents at senior living residences, contacting college students, and with voter protection. If you are interested in any of this work, contact Carole Brand.
